Partnership Overview
Gen.G, a leading force in the global esports arena, has entered into an exciting multi-year partnership with Syracuse University, a well-regarded private research institution in the U.S. This collaboration is set to invigorate the esports educational framework and enhance students’ hands-on learning experiences.
Program Enhancements
At the heart of this initiative lies the enhancement of Syracuse’s undergraduate degree in esports communications and management, an interdisciplinary program offered through a partnership between the Newhouse School of Public Communications and Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics.
This program features three specialized tracks: Esports Business Management, Esports Communications, and Esports Media and Design.
With this new agreement, influential leaders from Gen.G, including CEO Arnold Hur and Assistant Director of Education Operations Yugina Yan, will assume advisory roles to support the development of the esports degree program.
Events and Opportunities
A highlight of this collaboration is the opportunity for Syracuse students to participate in Gen.G’s innovative Practicum Abroad program.
This immersive three-week journey to South Korea promises to provide U.S. students with valuable insights through tailored esports programming and mentorship from experienced industry professionals.
Additionally, Syracuse University will host the Gen.G Campus Takeover event, which celebrates the launch of a new esports hub on campus.
Set for the fall of 2024, this free conference is geared towards addressing the latest trends and challenges within the esports and gaming industries.
It will also feature an exciting business case study competition.
Founded in 2017, Gen.G has built a strong presence in several competitive games such as League of Legends, VALORANT, Rocket League, and PUBG.
With offices spanning Los Angeles, Seoul, and Shanghai, Gen.G has ambitious plans to grow its global footprint further with a new hub in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This latest partnership is a natural evolution of Gen.G’s prior relationship with Syracuse University.
Last spring, Gen.G facilitated industry lectures at Falk College and led a specialized marketing seminar for esports students that coincided with the League of Legends World Championships held in Berlin.
Gen.G has consistently been a pioneer in esports education, notably by launching the Gen.G Global Academy in Korea—this was the first fully integrated academic program focused on esports in the world.
Earlier this year, the organization also unveiled a new facility for the academy in Seoul, underscoring its ongoing commitment to educational excellence in the esports domain.
