Introducing Afterlove EP

Indonesian developers Pikselnesia have just unveiled their latest creation, the Afterlove EP, a visual novel that delves into the profound emotions of heartbreak and loss.

The story unfolds in Jakarta, following Rama, a musician grappling with the aftermath of losing his girlfriend, Cinta.

As he struggles to reconnect with his former bandmates, Cinta’s lingering presence becomes a haunting yet comforting voice in his mind, accompanying players throughout this 28-day emotional journey.

The Visionary Behind the Game

The genesis of Afterlove EP traces back to Mohammad Fahmi, the visionary behind games like Coffee Talk and What Comes After, who sadly passed away in 2022.

Throughout the development process, Fahmi’s team at Pikselnesia has been navigating their own waves of grief, pouring their emotions into this meaningful project.

Having had the chance to experience Afterlove EP firsthand for a review, I can attest that it offers an emotional rollercoaster—though deceptively brief, with a gameplay length of about five to eight hours.

The bulk of this experience is immersed in rich dialogues that explore deep feelings of loss and the complexities of grief.

A Beautifully Crafted Narrative

Given the heavy emotional tone woven throughout the game, I’m taking my time with this review to fully digest its impact.

However, it’s clear that the narrative is beautifully crafted, showcasing stunning hand-drawn artwork paired with a soothing indie rock soundtrack.

If you’re intrigued and want to dive into this touching story, Afterlove EP is currently available on Steam.
