Today is a big day for fans of Call of Duty, as the long-awaited collaboration with the hit series Squid Game has officially arrived.

This exciting event coincides with a significant update for Black Ops 6 and Warzone, rolled out on January 3.

Activision has released detailed patch notes, outlining numerous changes and enhancements for players.

Gameplay Improvements and New Features

In both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, gameplay will feel more fluid thanks to improved mantle speeds, which allow for quicker movements.

Players can now open and close doors while sprinting, enhancing tactical play.

A new melee weapon—the Cleaver—is up for grabs through the Squid Game-themed event pass, available for purchase at 1,100 COD Points.

However, players should be aware of a potential hiccup following this latest update: some may experience resets in their Operator selections and customizations.

Activision has yet to clarify why this issue is occurring or how players can resolve it, leaving some with no choice but to start from scratch.

Exciting Multiplayer Modes

The update also brings a selection of exhilarating, Squid Game-inspired multiplayer modes to Black Ops 6.

Among these are classics such as Red Light, Green Light, along with a thrilling new mode called Roulette Handgun.

In Roulette Handgun, players wield a powerful handgun, but must tread carefully—the gun can explode with each fired shot, putting both the weapon and the player at risk.

While changes to weapon balance weren’t part of this patch, Scorestreaks in Black Ops 6 are receiving some tweaks.

The maximum damage for the RC-XD has been reduced, and Care Packages will now yield fewer Scout Pulses.

In contrast, the Sentry Turret will become sturdier and fire faster, while the Watchdog Helo will now deliver more damage.

Updates in Zombies and Warzone

In Zombies mode, players can dive into a newly introduced challenge named Dead Light, Green Light.

Here, players will gather kills during the Green Light phase, but moving during Red Light could come at a cost—potentially draining their essence.

As the game progresses into the Dead Light phase, players will face increasingly difficult waves of zombies.

Warzone is also benefiting from the January 3 patch, which remedies a range of bugs, including one affecting the exfil animation in Ranked Play, along with an issue that prevented advanced UAVs from functioning correctly in some situations.

Additionally, concerns regarding money drops have been addressed.

Moreover, a unique Squid Game mode has been added to Warzone’s Urzikstan map, featuring a series of elimination challenges where teams face off until only one team emerges victorious.

Between rounds, the Red Light, Green Light mechanic can also be triggered, adding an extra layer of excitement.

On the Squid Game front, fans of the franchise can now enjoy Season 2 of the wildly popular Netflix series, with Season 3 on the horizon for later this year.

Whether tackling new challenges in Call of Duty or binge-watching Squid Game, there’s plenty for fans to dive into!
