Disguised (DSG), the esports organization founded by streamer Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast’ Wang, has decided to withdraw from the VALORANT Challengers League SEA and dissolve its roster.
This announcement, made via their social media platforms, comes in light of a new exclusive partnership between Riot Games and the streaming service SOOP.
This collaboration limits organizations from co-streaming matches on any other platforms.
Impact of SOOP Partnership
According to the details of this exclusivity deal, Disguised has found itself unable to co-stream its VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) matches unless they earn a place in VCT Ascension 2025, scheduled for next September.
The restrictions imposed by the Riot and SOOP partnership mean that DSG will not be able to broadcast their matches for the next ten months unless they qualify for the upcoming tournament.
The organization took a moment to reflect on their journey in the SEA region, expressing gratitude for the support of their players and fans throughout this experience, which they described as both thrilling and insightful.
Recent Achievements and Challenges
Disguised’s decision to exit VALORANT comes shortly after they added player John ‘Ja’ Arone to their roster from NAOS Esports at the beginning of January.
Despite being a relatively new player in the SEA VALORANT scene, Disguised has already made waves, achieving notable successes like clinching the title at the VALORANT Challengers 2024 Southeast Asia: Split 3 and winning the Predator League in Singapore.
However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges; they fell short of promotion to VCT Pacific, finishing fifth to sixth in last year’s Ascension tournament.
Future Endeavors
Looking forward, Disguised plans to shift its focus to the 2025 LTA season, which stands as the premier League of Legends competition in the Americas.
Additionally, they forged a partnership with global food giant Chipotle in May 2024, which has led to the establishment of a Tekken 8 roster as part of this exciting collaboration.
