After the unfortunate news of its cancellation, a six-minute gameplay video from the never-released Transformers: Reactivate has surfaced online.
This leak comes shortly after Splash Damage confirmed that development on the game has officially ceased.
Game Overview
First unveiled at The Game Awards in 2022, Transformers: Reactivate promised an exciting online multiplayer experience for up to four players, featuring some of the franchise’s most iconic characters.
However, since its initial announcement, details about the game were scarce, and excitement waned until Splash Damage announced its cancellation this past week.
Leaked Footage
The leaked footage, which has gained traction across various social media platforms courtesy of an anonymous fan account, showcases a combination of third-person shooting gameplay and vehicular exploration within an incomplete open-world environment.
These snippets appear to originate from an unfinished stage of the game, hinting that significant development work still needed to occur.
Studio’s Statement
Splash Damage revealed on Wednesday that the decision to halt the project is aligned with their strategic shift to streamline operations and redirect resources toward other initiatives.
This pivot might also result in job cuts within the company, which is understandably concerning for many employees.
In their statement, the studio conveyed their regret over the premature demise of the game and expressed their sympathy for team members who may face layoffs.
They reaffirmed their dedication to supporting affected staff during this difficult time while emphasizing their focus on future growth opportunities.
Previously, Splash Damage had disclosed plans for a new “AAA open-world survival game,” dubbed Project Astrod, in collaboration with streamers Mike “Shroud” Grzesiek and Chris “Sacriel” Ball.
However, updates on this project have been notably absent since its initial announcement in March 2023, leaving fans wondering about its status.
