NetEase has officially revealed that the mobile iteration of its PvPvE sandbox action horror game, Once Human, is set to launch in April 2025.

Testing for this mobile version commenced back in September.

New Features and Gameplay Enhancements

During a year-end livestream event, the developers shared thrilling new features that players can look forward to at launch.

Three brand-new scenarios will debut: Code: Purification, Code: Deviation, and Code: Broken.

Notably, Code: Broken offers a competitive 10-day player-versus-player (PvP) experience, while the other two scenarios emphasize player-versus-environment (PvE) gameplay.

Beginning January 16, fans will get acquainted with the innovative Visional Wheel.

This feature promises to enhance gameplay with new weapons, powers, and mechanics, while also ramping up enemy difficulty.

Players will face additional challenges that can impact their sanity throughout their adventures.

To top it off, there’s a festive event planned for the Christmas and New Year season.

Pre-Registration and Player Excitement

Looking ahead, NetEase intends to release Once Human on consoles, complete with cross-platform functionality.

However, a specific launch date for that version remains under wraps.

For those eager to dive into the mobile experience, pre-registration is now open via the official website.

As of now, more than 26 million players have signed up, unlocking a plethora of rewards, including cosmetics, skins, decorative items, and crafting resources.

Community Response and Future Plans

In an earlier review by Eurogamer, Once Human received a three-star rating out of five.

The review praised its captivating open-world scavenging mechanics but noted some shortcomings in the action elements, including repetition.

Since then, NetEase has enriched its offering with a wider array of premium in-game items, such as cosmetic loot boxes.

Recently, the game’s developers expressed disappointment over the lukewarm feedback regarding the second season of Once Human.

Despite this setback, they remain committed to enhancing the game and its community experience.
