As 2023 draws to a close, the developers behind Greedfall 2, Spiders, have taken a moment to pause and reflect on their development journey.
They’ve reaffirmed their commitment to crafting an outstanding game with the invaluable support and feedback from the gaming community.
Development Progress Updates
In a recent update posted on Steam, the Spiders team highlighted the significant strides they’ve made since the game entered Early Access.
They shared their enthusiasm about the progress achieved, although they acknowledged the hurdles along the way, particularly the delay of Update 0.2, which currently has no set release date.
The decision to postpone the update is strategic, allowing the developers to devote their attention to meaningful improvements and fixes that respond directly to player input.
They’ve identified several focal points for these enhancements, such as refining the combat mechanics—a priority for both the team and the player base—as well as making adjustments to the user interface, enhancing character customization, optimizing performance, and addressing various other aspects of gameplay.
Engaging with the Community
To manage player expectations, Spiders clarified that the forthcoming Update 0.2 won’t deliver a comprehensive overhaul all at once.
Instead, they plan to implement enhancements gradually, ensuring that each change meets the desired quality.
They emphasized their preference for waiting until they can confidently announce a release date, underscoring their commitment to aligning the game with player expectations and incorporating community feedback.
Furthermore, the team is actively working on resolving issues related to Alivda’s voice lines.
Due to the original voice actor’s unavailability, they are collaborating with a new artist to re-record the necessary lines, which will be included in a future update.
Continuous Improvement Focus
Spiders reiterated that engaging with players and allowing their feedback to influence the development process is fundamental to their Early Access approach.
After Greedfall 2’s exciting launch on Steam, they recognized that while they’ve made progress, there are still areas needing improvement—namely loot drop rates, AI behavior, and the clarity of dialogue scenes.
The developers remain committed to refining the game, with community input playing an essential role in shaping its direction.
