Superman Makes a Comeback
After waiting more than ten years, fans of the iconic superhero Superman can rejoice! The beloved character is back in the world of LEGO with a new building set for the first time since 2012.
Dubbed “Superman Mech vs.
Lex Luthor,” this set marks a fresh addition to the ever-popular lineup of DC-themed LEGO products.
For over a decade, aside from a few fleeting appearances in minifigure form, the Man of Steel had disappeared from LEGO sets.
The last significant build featuring Superman came out in 2012, where he faced off against Lex Luthor clad in power armor.
The latest set flips the script by showcasing Superman in a mech suit, a twist that adds a modern flair to the classic rivalry.
Before this, the only other Superman-specific LEGO set was a 2014 Duplo set.
With a new Superman film set to hit theaters this July, it’s perfect timing for this set to make its grand entrance.
Details of the New Sets
“Superman Mech vs.
Lex Luthor” is one of three new DC LEGO sets introduced this month, alongside exciting offerings centered on Batman.
One such set features the Batmobile Tumbler, inspired by the iconic film “The Dark Knight.”
- Superman Mech vs.
Lex Luthor
(120 pieces) – priced at $15 - Batman Tumbler vs.
Two-Face and The Joker
(429 pieces) – priced at $60 - Batman and Batmobile vs. Mr. Freeze (63 pieces) – priced at $20
This year is already significant for Superman fans, especially with James Gunn’s upcoming film.
At just $15, the 120-piece “Superman Mech vs.
Lex Luthor” set allows builders to create their own mech version of the legendary hero.
A New Era for Superman LEGO
In recent years, LEGO has broadened its range of moving mech figures, with Batman receiving a similar set last summer.
The lineup now includes mechs inspired by various Marvel characters, such as the recently debuted Spider-Man and Iron Man designs.
This latest Superman set stands out as only the second major LEGO building kit dedicated to the famed character.
Interestingly, the previous set had Lex Luthor piloting a gigantic mech that overshadowed a minifigure Superman.
Now, the tables have turned, allowing Superman to take charge in this new setup against Lex.
For those who lean towards Batman, the “Batman Tumbler vs.
Two-Face and The Joker” set includes minifigures of both villains and Batman himself, along with a non-functional projector for the Bat-Signal.
Meanwhile, the “Batman and Batmobile vs. Mr. Freeze” set targets younger builders and comprises 63 pieces.
With this exciting launch, LEGO signals a revitalized interest in Superman sets, giving both collectors and casual fans an opportunity to engage with the heroic icon through a fresh and fun-building experience.
