Today marks the end of an era for WWE 2K23, as 2K Games has made the decision to permanently shut down the game’s servers and community features.

Final Server Shutdown

On January 6, 2025, WWE fans will witness a noteworthy event when Monday Night Raw moves to Netflix for a live show straight from Los Angeles.

However, this date also signifies the final chapter for WWE 2K23, as the game’s servers have officially gone offline.

Back in September, 2K Games announced that WWE 2K23 would be undergoing its “final takedown.” Following this, early November saw the removal of both the game and its downloadable content from digital platforms like PlayStation and Xbox.

With the server shutdown now in effect, players can no longer engage in online activities such as multiplayer matches or utilize the Community Creations feature, which allowed them to share their creative content with others.

Offline Play and Future Prospects

For those who purchased WWE 2K23 prior to its delisting, there is still some good news: you can continue to play the game in offline mode.

This closure raises questions about the future of the franchise, particularly regarding WWE 2K24.

The upcoming title has promised to bring back the special referee option while celebrating 40 Years of WrestleMania, giving fans the chance to recreate classic matches from the iconic event.

Looking Ahead

Although 2K Games has yet to reveal any details about WWE 2K25, given the release patterns of past games, we can expect an announcement soon in early 2025.

Moreover, it’s worth noting that WWE superstars have previously partnered with popular franchises like Call of Duty and Fortnite, which presents fans with exciting opportunities to interact with their favorite wrestlers throughout the upcoming year.
