Microsoft is gearing up to enhance the accessibility of Xbox Game Pass by launching support on new LG Smart TVs later this year, allowing gamers to utilize Xbox Cloud Gaming straight from their televisions.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Benefits

For those subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, this means you can hop into your favorite games directly from the Xbox App on your LG TV—no console required.

Around 50 select titles will be available for streaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who already own the games.

Noteworthy inclusions in this streaming lineup are popular games such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Hades, NBA 2K25, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Microsoft first hinted at this feature last November, sparking excitement among gamers.

Current Streaming Options

Currently, Xbox Game Pass enthusiasts without an Xbox console or PC can stream games via smartphones, Amazon Fire TV, and certain Samsung Smart TVs.

In a recent blog post, Microsoft mentioned that more information about the service’s rollout on LG TVs will be available in the coming months.

However, it’s still unclear whether older LG TV models will be included in this offering.

Expanding the Xbox Ecosystem

Integrating Xbox Cloud Gaming and Game Pass into LG TVs fits neatly into Microsoft’s latest marketing initiative, “This is an Xbox.” This campaign seeks to transform the perception of Xbox gaming by highlighting the versatility of gaming across various devices, from PCs to smartphones and now TVs.

This approach has been a consistent theme for Microsoft.

In 2020, Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, emphasized the objective of broadening the Xbox player community without necessarily boosting console sales.

He underscored that engagement could arise from numerous platforms, including Android devices, the Nintendo Switch, and PCs.

On top of advancing cross-platform game streaming, Microsoft is also stepping up its game by making some of its first-party titles available on competing consoles.

For example, the much-anticipated Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to launch on PlayStation 5 this spring, showcasing Microsoft’s commitment to expanding its gaming ecosystem beyond its own hardware.
