Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console has been generating considerable buzz recently, particularly due to a wave of leaks concerning its design.

An industry analyst suggests that the company is likely paying close attention to this situation and may be keen to make an announcement before long.

Design Expectations

For those following the updates, the general design of the Switch 2 has seemed quite predictable, particularly after images of a prototype shell and internal components surfaced online in late September.

Following these revelations, accessory manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon, showcasing potential add-ons and offering clearer visuals of what the new console might look like.

As for the Switch 2’s design, expectations indicate that it will resemble the original model, with a few modifications.

It’s anticipated that the console will be slightly larger and will incorporate intriguing new features, such as magnetic attachments for the Joy-Con controllers and an additional button below the Home button on the right Joy-Con.

Timing and Market Trends

Timing is everything in the world of gaming, and according to Serkan Toto, an industry analyst leading the consultancy Kantan Games, Nintendo might find it challenging to hold off a reveal until 2024.

He highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting Nintendo’s self-imposed deadline of March 31, 2025, for showcasing the console.

The combination of recent leaks and dwindling sales of the existing Switch might prompt a faster announcement than originally planned.

Toto believes that the magnitude of these leaks could push Nintendo to release information ahead of schedule.

He even speculated that an announcement could come as early as January, a strategic move that would allow the company to efficiently communicate their exciting new developments in a limited timeframe.

Backward Compatibility and Anticipation

As fans eagerly await further details, the gaming community’s expectations revolve around a possible launch of the Switch 2 later in 2025.

While Nintendo has not yet pinned down a specific release date, anticipation continues to build.

One exciting feature confirmed is backward compatibility, which is likely to draw even more attention, especially with the much-anticipated Metroid Prime 4 set to release alongside this innovative new console.
